Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)


Detailed CVs are invited for the position of Chief Administrative Officer.
The post is one of the key positions in the administrative set up of the Institute. Administration being a service function with the main goal of providing support to the academic side of the Institute, the key function of the CAO is to arrange for providing efficient and courteous administrative support to students, faculty, academic functionaries etc.

The roles and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) providing necessary support to Director, coordinating with government agencies, statutory bodies, and other institutions/organizations, supervising all sections/ wings of the Institute administration, preparation of Board agenda notes, recordings of minutes of the meeting, keeping records of the apex bodies of the Institute, being the custodian of the records and such other property of the Institute, ensuring proper record keeping and digitizing of records, handling legal matters of the Institute, conducting the official correspondence on behalf of the Institute, safeguarding the movable and immovable assets of the Institute.

Qualification & Experience

  • Post Graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised University/ Institute, preferably in Management/ Public Administration/ Engineering with consistently good academic records.
  • At least 15 years of post-qualification administrative experience in academic institute/ university/ defence sector or 15 years of teaching experience, out of which at least 8 years of administrative experience at a senior level
  • The applicant should not be more than 55 years of age as on December 31, 2017
  • Should have the aptitude for working with academic community striving for excellence as a crucial facilitator for professional fulfilment
  • Good knowledge of government rules and regulations on matters like establishment, works, procurement is desirable
  • Knowledge about rules and regulations related to accreditation, ranking etc. of apex bodies is desirable
  • Experience of handling a large number of employees with varied backgrounds and maintaining co-ordination among departments is desirable
